Time vs Creativity
Yesterday was my last wet clay day before the Trade Show. I was in a panic. The inner artist never likes to be rushed. I was completing a bunch of new designs and doing smaller versions of the first four key chain designs. Copying your own work, when you were pleased with the results the first time through, is very difficult.
I couldn’t get the marmot just right, and I had worked it and reworked. My 18 year old daughter came in and looked things over. To her, there wasn’t much difference between the new one and the old one.
"The forehead is larger on the old one." She commented.
After going away for awhile, having a glass of wine, and watching the electrician hook up my large kiln, (Yeah! it works.) I went back, added a little clay and the piece fell into place. The right feedback is worth its weight in gold.
The perfection monster had gotten me in its grip. After getting over that stumbling block, I went on to finish 2 more pieces. I still wish I had more new pieces for the show, but I am satisfied with the showing I do have.
Today, I go on to make casts of my originals and tomorrow I get to make the first run of the new work. After that I’ll have a couple of days to focus on the display for the show.

The beginning...
Welcome to anyone who makes it to this page. I am overwhelmed by the many tasks facing me in starting my own art business. My biggest self question being...when does the art get done?!
I am currently getting ready for a trade show, just got back from Vancouver, where I secured a exclusivity contract, and I need to be creating my info for a brochure. I would rather continue to build the web site and upload many more pics for everyone to see.
I shall return later tonight to do just that. So please stay tuned, and I will update you periodically with my progress from ’artist in theory’ to ’full-time working artist’.
